Tips for Creating a Great Speaker Program

Speaker programs are a great way to educate physicians and can be an invaluable tool to the healthcare company. Here are seven ways to ensure you are getting the most value out of your speaker programs.
Tips for Creating a Great Speaker Program
- Ask your audience what they want
Periodically you should conduct a larger research study with your audience to gain a better understanding of their wants and needs. This includes asking questions about what topics interest them most, how they want to receive information and how often.
- Animation
Including a short video or animation during your presentation is a great way to break up the lecture, re-energize the audience and increase engagement.
- Check-in
Pausing throughout the presentation to check-in with audiences ensures they fully understand the topic and offers an opportunity to address any questions they may have. One way to do this is to use polls throughout your presentation.
- Be flexible
Healthcare professionals are busy so provide them with options so they can learn with a style and time that is convenient for them.
- Have discussions
At the end of the presentation, offer a Q&A session to address any additional questions audience members may have that were not answered during the presentation. This increases engagement and reinforces key messages.
- Keep the slides as clean as possible
Callout important facts on the slides. Too much “stuff” on the slide can distract your audience and they don’t know where to focus their attention.
- Collect feedback
After the meeting, ask the audience to fill-out a quick evaluation of what they thought of the program so you can track your programs’ performance and identify when program material needs to be retired.
